By Douglas Baty
Kitabu boot - August 2012: Since my bunion surgery 2 years ago, I have been looking for a rocker-bottomed hiking boot. My closets are now full of Sketcher-like "toning" sneakers, but they aren't suitable for serious hiking. [My podiatrist recommended such things for me]. MBT has been selling rocker-bottom sandals and shoes for some time, but until now I hadn't found any hiking boots. So I was happy to acquire these well-made boots for a modest price. They are sturdy but fairly lightweight.
My first mountain hike: Before starting, I water-proofed the outside with spray silicone (which darkens the leather somewhat). Since the boot has hooks for the top 2 lace eyelets, it is quick and easy to lace up. Fit is good, but size run a little larger than I expected (sizing is European). After 3 miles I developed a blister on one foot, in part because the boots are a little big for me. [This comes in handy for winter hikes]. So I pasted on a band-aid and switched to thicker socks (which I had in my pack).
The boots are nearly indestructible and were unfazed by rock and rubble along the trail. Being high-topped, they provide good ankle support. No danger of a sprained ankle miles from the trailhead. The tough leather outside doesn't show a scratch. The sole pattern did not pick up pebbles/dirt and is easy to clean. Traction was good.
Now that the boots and I have gotten familiar with each other, I look forward to my next mountain hike. By the way, MBT sells another rocker-bottomed hiking boot that is not as tall called Rafiki GTX. I may buy those too if I find myself in the mountains a lot. For those not familiar with rocker-bottomed soles, on the trail you quickly get use to their dynamics. On hard flat surfaces they seem a bit odd.
A casual California hiker.

I had back surgery in 1986. I'm a retired FF, who worked for Stockton CA. I'm sure you've read about Stockton CA. in the news
since they recently filed Bankruptcy and in order to become solvent they've dropped all the Health Benefits for all the retirees.
I was in constant pain but managed to work for 31 years before my back finally had enough and I reinjured it and was forced to retire. I began to walk hunched over because it felt comfortable. I found a pair of MBTs and they slowly made me use different
muscles and within a month l was walking upright. I continued buying MBTs at a local shoe store, then they began selling boots.
One day I went to purchase additional boots and the store had gone out of business. I haven't been able to find high top boots of this type in at least a couple years. My wife showed me how to set up an account and I was shocked when I found this pair of boots. I bought a pair and have been wearing them as often as possible since they arrived. All my shoes are MBTs, but l haven't been able to find a good quality boot, until Now. I encourage you to buy these boots or the lower cut model. I must warn you not
to get so excited that you wear all the time. Your body must become accustomed to wearing them, but their well worth the wait
and money. I'll turn 61 years Old tomorrow and there the most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

By RB
When my son compained about sore feet I told him about MBT's. However he didnt like the styles calling them dull and pedestrian. That is until I found this boot. "Love it" was his response, and that opinion didnt change once it arrived. This is a stylish boot with very essential ankle support, extremely well crafted and good leather. While the MBT system took him a bit of getting used to (as it gave his whole body a workout)he is sold on them. After wearing his old sneakers for a day it was back to having sore feet. The only complaint he has is that they are like walking on glass on wet pavements. And thats hardly a complaint. Thank god MBT made a stylish boot.
